Security risks in Germany
Germany has a skilled labour force with a low level of corruption, low unemployment rate, and a high level of innovation. That said, a 2013 survey revealed that 11% of respondents had been asked to pay a bribe.
Like other developed countries, the murder rate is low in Germany, at around 1 per 100,000 people.
Violent crime
Illegal drugs carry severe penalties, and outlaw motorcycle gangs control a large amount of the drug trade in bars and clubs.
As well as native crime groups, there have organised crime groups operating in the country, originating from places such as Italy, Russia, Yugoslavia and Albania.
Non-violent crime
It’s important to be aware of risks such as pickpocketing and burglary. Be especially vigilant in crowded places, and ask us about our close protection services.
Crimes such as extortion, drug and weapon trafficking are more likely in urban centres.
Terrorism
Although the German authorities are on alert, there’s a high threat of terrorist attacks, especially in places commonly visited by tourists such as restaurants, shopping centres, and sporting / cultural events.
Riots
Large protests have taken place in Germany during 2024 and 2025, against the far-right political party Alternative for Germany (AfG).
As part of ensuring the safety of our clients, we keep a close eye on developments so our drivers can take evasive action if required.
