Secure transportation & Security Drivers in Taiwan

Secure travel for VIPs across Taiwan

We arrange secure transportation for our clients to and within Taiwan a.k.a. the Republic of China (ROC).

It’s important to note that China insists Taiwan forms part of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). To retain economic and diplomatic relations with Beijing, the UK formally acknowledges that Taiwan comes under the sole legal government of China. We therefore have no diplomatic relations with Taiwan – that said, we maintain robust unofficial ties.

Secure transportation in Taiwan

Taiwan is a densely populated country that comprises 168 islands – the main island is historically known as Formosa. Taipei is the capital.

It’s one of the four ‘Asian Tigers’, alongside Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore. The economy is dominated by SMEs rather than corporates, in particular, science, technology, and bicycle manufacturing.

As we do in other parts of the world, we provide private aviation, security drivers, and a complete concierge service for visitors.

Security drivers in Taiwan

Our security drivers are highly trained – for the protection of our clients, our drivers have specialist skills that go beyond those of ordinary limousine chauffeurs.

All our drivers speak English and we can provide translators if required. Taiwan is officially multi-lingual. The main language is Mandarin Chinese, while the everyday tongue is Taiwanese Hokkien.

As for getting there, Taiwan has major airports and seaports, and we can arrange a private meet-and-greet service if required.

Security vehicles in Taiwan

If the threat assessment deems it necessary, we can provide armoured vehicles and armed drivers for secure transportation in Taiwan.

Otherwise, we typically use luxury limousines, but can provide whatever vehicle suits our clients, their entourage, and the safety situation.

Of course, our drivers have the correct permits to drive in Taiwan.

Highways are concentrated near the coast, and there are many scooters and motorbikes, recklessly weaving around on the roads of Taiwan and making it even more important to have a trained driver who knows how to handle the conditions.

Overview of Taiwan

Taiwan is a densely populated country that comprises 168 islands – the main island is historically known as Formosa. Taipei is the capital.

The Eastern two-thirds consists of five mountain ranges. Most people live on the plains in the Western third.

The monsoon season is May and June, then it’s hot and humid until September – a period during which typhoons are common. Taiwan is on a fault line and experiences many earthquakes.

Security risks in Taiwan

It’s wise to carry your personal ID (such as your passport) with you at all times in Taiwan.

Drug laws are stricter than in the UK, and the penalties are harsh, including capital punishment.

Violent crime

Crime rates are low, making Taiwan one of the world’s safest places.

However, organised crime and corruption do exist, especially in the construction sector.

Non-violent crime

Pickpocketing, purse-snatching, and credit card scams may occur, so it’s important to be vigilant, especially in crowded spaces such as night markets.

Terrorism

There have been no recent terrorist attacks in Taiwan. But British nationals remain a target worldwide – just one reason why it’s wise to arrange secure transportation.

Riots

Martial law was in effect from 1949-1987, and used to suppress political opposition. The period is known as ‘the white terror’, and 140,000 people were executed or imprisoned.

Events

Taiwan hosts major cultural, seasonal and international events, such as the Taiwan Lantern Festival, Christmasland, and Balloon Fiesta.

It’s renowned for its hot springs resorts. Baseball and basketball are popular sports. Karaoke is extremely popular in Taiwan, where it’s known as KTV.

They have progressive policies on LGBTQ+ rights, and there’s a huge Pride parade there each October.
